Frequently asked questions
Is the hamam private for us?
Yes. Every ritual is private: the hamam is reserved only for your party during your time. Couples stay together, families never share the room with strangers, and female therapists are available on request.
Do you pick us up from our hotel?
Yes. Pickup and drop-off are free for hotels in the Old City, including Sultanahmet, Eminönü and Beyazıt. The car arrives 15 minutes before your start time, and the driver’s name, vehicle and plate are sent to you beforehand. For other areas, ask your concierge.
Can we come as a family or a group?
Yes. Children from 6 years are welcome with their parents, and we arrange the details for each child individually. For groups we book the right hamams for the same hour, with one host who stays with you from pickup to drop-off. Families and groups are planned with our concierge on WhatsApp.
How and when do we pay?
There is no prepayment and no deposit. You pay at the hamam, by card or cash. Prices are fixed and shown for two guests, from €98. We never ask for card details online.
What should we wear and bring?
Nothing special. Peştemal wraps, slippers, shampoo and soap are provided, and there are hair dryers and lockers. Swimwear is not required; bring it if you prefer.
Can you arrange a special celebration?
Yes. For a honeymoon, birthday, anniversary or proposal we can prepare candles, rose petals and a quiet surprise. Tell us when you plan, and ask your concierge for the options and prices.
Where is the hamam?
We choose the right hamam for your party in the Old City, close to Hagia Sophia. The exact address is sent with your confirmation, by email and WhatsApp.
How fast is my reservation confirmed?
Online reservations for two are usually confirmed straight away. If a time needs checking, our concierge confirms it on WhatsApp within minutes.
Where can couples take a Turkish bath together in Istanbul?
In a private hamam. Most of Istanbul’s historic public hamams separate men and women, with separate sections or hours, so couples who want to stay together book a private ritual. With HamamPass the hamam room is reserved for the two of you in the Old City near Hagia Sophia, from €98 for two, with free Old City hotel pickup.
First time in a hamam?
Your private hamam in Istanbul, from hotel door to tea
HamamPass is a hamam concierge for Istanbul. We choose the right hamam for your party, collect you from your hotel and stay with you on WhatsApp until you are back. If this is your first Turkish bath, here is what actually happens, what to wear and how the evening runs.
What happens inside a hamam
A hamam is a warm, humid marble room rather than a hot one. You begin by lying on the göbek taşı, the heated stone at the centre, while the steam softens your skin and the noise of the city falls away. Then your therapist pours warm water from a copper bowl and takes you through the scrub and the foam. Every ritual also includes time in the sauna, and it ends slowly, resting in the lounge with Turkish delight and tea, sherbet or Turkish coffee, depending on your ritual.
What to wear: the peştemal
There is nothing to pack. The hamam gives you a peştemal, the thin cotton wrap worn in Turkish baths for centuries, together with slippers, shampoo and soap; hair dryers and lockers are there too. Swimwear is not required, but bring it if you would feel more at ease. Leave jewellery at the hotel.
Kese and köpük, the heart of the ritual
The kese is a coarse mitt with one job: lifting away the tired outer layer of skin, and most first-timers are surprised by how much comes off. Then comes the köpük, soap foam whipped up in a cotton cloth until it billows, swept over you warm and weightless. In the 90-minute Palace Ritual a 30-minute oil massage and a face mask follow; the 120-minute Halvet Private Chamber replaces the kese with a salt peeling and adds a 45-minute deep tissue massage.
Families, groups and couples
Every ritual is private: the hamam is reserved for your party alone, so couples stay together and families never share the room with strangers. Children from 6 years are welcome with their parents, and we arrange the details for each child individually. For friends travelling together or a larger family, we book the right hamams for the same hour and send one host who stays with you from pickup to drop-off. Female therapists are available on request.
Celebrations: honeymoon, birthday, anniversary
Tell us what the evening is for. For a honeymoon, a birthday, an anniversary or a proposal we can prepare candles, rose petals and a quiet surprise before you walk in. Ask your concierge for the options and prices; nothing is added without your yes.
How hotel pickup works
Pickup and drop-off are free for hotels in the Old City: Sultanahmet, Eminönü, Beyazıt and the streets around them. Add your hotel when you plan. The car arrives 15 minutes before your start time, and the driver’s name, vehicle and plate are sent to you beforehand, so you know exactly who you are looking for. Afterwards we drive you back to the hotel, or on to dinner if the night is not over. Staying elsewhere in Istanbul? Ask your concierge first.
Timing your visit
Rituals run every day from 10:00 to 23:00, Istanbul time. Plan for the ritual itself, 60, 90 or 120 minutes, plus the short drive each way and a little time to change and rest. Late afternoon, after a day on your feet in the Old City, is a lovely moment for it. Online reservations for two are usually confirmed straight away; a same-day time close to the hour is checked with the hamam first, and our concierge confirms it on WhatsApp.
How payment works
There is no prepayment and no deposit, and we never ask for card details online. You pay at the hamam, by card or in cash. Prices are fixed and shown for two guests: €98 for the 60-minute Traditional Hammam, €150 for the 90-minute Palace Ritual and €198 for the 120-minute Halvet Private Chamber, with Old City hotel pickup included.
